Breast Cancer is Bullsh*t

In the last 6 months 2 very important women in my life have been diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer. One will likely be on cancer drugs for the rest of her life, the other had to go through 2 reconstruction surgeries because her body rejected the first one. I could do nothing for either of them except listen. A hard knot of anger is punching me in the throat as I write this.

I know this story is not uncommon. I think it’s safe to say that every single woman, –no, every person– in this world is affected by breast cancer.  Yes, thank God for the scientists who have made the survival rate higher and have offered more treatment options. But make no mistake—it is not as simple as taking a z pac and resting for a few days. Treatment is, to put it mildly, AWFUL, for the patient and for their loved ones.

WE HAVE GOT TO FIND A CURE.

This spring my ladies were courageous and strong and just wanting to get on with their lives after cancer. I was still feeling frustrated and helpless. Then in May, I was invited to curate the master closet of this year’s Holiday House Hamptons, a holiday themed designer showhouse benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Use my talents to help raise money to find a cure? Now this was something I could do.

This closet makes me happy in so many ways.

Founded by Iris Dankner, herself an 18 year breast cancer survivor, Holiday House has raised nearly a million dollars (that’s 6 zeros!) for BCRF. BCRF is the highest rated breast cancer organization in the United States with 88% of every dollar raised going to research and 3% going to awareness programs.

My “Ultimate Hamptons Closet” was inspired by all the super stylish women of the Hamptons. It’s a mix of high end, low end, up and comers and tried and trues. Here’s the whole list: designer one sheet  I’m so honored to display my work among the Hamptons top interior designers and I’m so grateful I get to do something to help find a cure for breast cancer!

So if you are in the Hamptons this summer please make it a point to visit Holiday House. The location and house will blow you away with fabulousness! Book a session with me after you have visited and I will donate 10% of my fee to BCRF.

Much Love and Fabulousness,

Carmen Adriana
